I'm about to buy a Kubota 3010 HST having decided that JD 4300 seems to have a lot of problemsThere are only a few postings on the 3010. I would appreciate hearing from 3010 owners (and other Kubota owners) about their positive and negative experiences.

Well, David, I don't have a 3010, I have a 2710 and in the past had a 7100. I think you'll be very happy with the 3010. Lots of positives and I think the most negative things I've heard about the Kubotas are that some folks think the slanted hood and blue color make the New Hollands prettier (and I agree) and some of the John Deere folks don't like the fact that the HST Kubotas don't have some brake pedals on the left so they can use them for turning (and they have a good point, although I don't need those extra pedals myself). Buy that 3010 and enjoy it. ....

David, I can't speak specifically about the L3010 either as my tractor is an L4310 with the hydrostatic transmission. My experience with this "L" series tractor however has been very positive. I usually use a loader and a box blade. With these attachments there seems to never be any need to use the brakes to assist with sharp turns. But there is a way to do it. By engaging the cruise control the tractor effectively operates just like if it had a manual transmission. You can use the clutch to start and stop. The hydrostatic transmission continues to be at whatever speed setting it was set for. Just as if you were in some particular gear on a manual tranny. Your foot can leave the hydrostatic control pedal and operate the brakes individually if you want to. I have tried this and it works but I never use it because the tractor turns so well anyway. I have two attachments that make the tractor especially enjoyable to operate. One is the quick attach bracket for the loader bucket. It makes changing from bucket to forks or just going without for mowing a snap. The other is the tip and tilt kit for the three point. I can't imagine using the box blade without that extra control. It even helps with the mower. There is only one thing that I wish this tractor had and that is telescoping lower three point hitch links. You have to by a blue tractor if you want those. kubota has the telescoping 3-pt links on their bigger ag tractors but not on their compacts for some reason. That is something we may have to try to get them to fix. I have a B2400 and I think one reasons that their are relatively few posts about Kubotas is that they don't go wrong very often. They are well built, sturdy and reliable. You fill them with fuel, turn the key and go to work. When I first got my tractor, I thought that having the HST pedals and the brake pedals on the same side (I used to be a Deere man) would be a problem but it hasn't turned out to be. The turning radius is quite good and with the hydro, it is so easy to back up and turn that I've never had to use the brakes to assist. I've got nothing negative to say about my little machine, I love it. It's a little workhorse. I'm sure you will enjoy yours, have fun. ....

David, I just bought a L3010 HST with turf tires, front end loader and Woods 72” finishing mover. I only have 39 hours on it so far and have had no problems what so ever. This is my first tractor so I couldn’t say which features are better or worse than others. So far all my experiences have been positive.

Frank, the B2910 now has the telescoping lower links on the 3-point. I'm not sure whether the same lower links could be used on other models, but they sure look like they'd fit the B2710 at least. ....

Hi David. I bought an L3010 this spring. I have the HST, Kubota loader, and a Farm King 72 inch rear mower so far. I only have 34 hrs on it but have no complaints. I studied little tractors for three months before I finally bought one. The 3010 was the size I needed. Comparable other makes are the JD4300, and the New Holland TC33. The JD had so many problems and I tried one for two days and didn't like it anyway. The TC33 is slightly smaller tractor. I found it not to be as refined as the Kub and also in my area anyway (Saskatchewan, Canada)it was allot more money than either the JD or Kub.
The 3010 has all the HP I need and it has the size I need to carry heavy loads in the bucket with allot of stability. I found the B series was just too small for my purposes.
You will not find a tractor that comes anywhere close as far as the HST goes. It is so smooth and there is zero back pressure. I hardly use the cruise it's so user friendly.
YOu won't go wrong with the 3010. ....

Thanks to all who responded.
I have taken the plunge and bought a L3010 HST, also with a Kubota loader, and Farm King 72 inch rear mower. The snow blower will come in November.
My mowing is all flat so I have opted for loaded R-4's for better flat protection.
The dealer suggested them and even offered to exchange them for Turfs within the first few weeks if I experience any turf damage. I'll just have to avoid sharp turns on wet grass, I think.
As an aside, the dealer also sells New Holland in an adjacent location and I tried one side-by-side with the Kubota yesterday as a final test before deciding.
The unit was equiped with optional "super steer" that pivots the whole front axel. The objective is to allow for very sharp turns which it does.
The 3010 has more traditional setup and I was suprised that it's turning radius was "almost" as impressive.
The 3010's gound clearance is noticebly superiour and I am concerned that the New Holland's single pivot point for the axel is more likely to fail.
I also noticed that the New Holland axel would likely be problematic for close loader work since the axel setup causes the front-end to shift significantly when turning the wheels on the spot.
One nice feature; the New Holland seat pivots to 45 degrees. That would likely make reverse driving, as is required with a rear snow blower, less of a pain.
In the end, the Kubota seemed more substantial and less toy-like.
The most surpising discovery was that the Kubota is also the least expensive alternative in my area. I started my research assuming that Kubota is most expensive.
The tractor itself with foldable ROPS was Cdn 19200 or about US 12,800. R-4's were an extra Cdn 400.
The JD 4300 was about Cdn 23,000, a Massey Ferguson 1235 was about Cdn 24,000 ???. I was told that the New Holland would also be a few thousand more but I never asked for a quote.
I started my research assuming that the JD 4300 would be my ultimate choice and it was their sale to loose. This board realy opened up my eyes.

The L3010 replaced the L2900, Both are great super Grand L series tractors and the only problem I have ever seen was a light front end when a loader was not in use. Front weights will take care of this problem, but the price of the weights is very steep. you could make your own weights or use a aftermarket front grille guard for weight and protect that front end at the same time. If you damage the front end, it will get into your wallet. ....
